SWIT INCREASES OIL RECOVERY
Injection of treated seawater from topsides is the most common method for Increased Oil Recovery (IOR) from subsea reservoirs. Well Processing  offers a new and cost-effective  technology (SWIT) that allows injection systems to be placed on the seabed, giving:

High quality injection water
Flexibility in field waterflood design
Reduced cost, weight, and space topsides
• No water flowlines from topsides to subsea wells
• An easy add on at any stage of field life

We work as an engineering partner and can supply subsea treatment units,  treatment designs with technology licenses, or complete subsea injection systems. We are proud receivers of the ONS Innovation Award for 2006 (picture above, right).

TREATMENT PROTECTS THE RESERVOIRSWIT subsea unit (click to see a larger picture)
Treatment of the seawater before injection is essential to achieve long term protection of the reservoir.  However, treatment and injection have traditionally been restricted to topside facilities as these plants can be large, costly, and operator intensive to run. Also topside plants put significant technical and economical restrictions on the optimal use of water injection for IOR purposes.

Our alternative is the SWIT technology for subsea treatment of raw seawater. This patented technology enables the building of cost-effective seabed injection systems; systems that can supply the high quality water that is needed to protect reservoirs from blocking and souring. A template based implementation is shown to the right. Click here to see our installation video.

Well Processing has been developing the SWIT technology with sponsorship from the Research Council of Norway and ConocoPhillips. A SWIT pilot system will be deployed during 2008.
